Dirty February off to a good start.

The tradition here at RJC is to have a 'no shave' month...hence....Dirty February!  The staff and students swear off shaving for the entire month  of February.  The girls have jumped in on the action as well...although they are slightly more bashful about it showing off their results!  Look very closely....Do you recognize anyone?

RJC'S GOT TALENT Final Count!

2010/2011 FAITH AND LIFE FUNDRAISER
RJC’s Got Talent!

The parable of the talents was used as a guiding theme for our 5th annual Faith and Life Fundraiser that ran from Nov. 25 – Jan. 25 this year at RJC.   Students and staff were challenged to use their ‘talents’ (their time, energy, creativity, and resources) to raise money for the designated charities.  Students ran with the idea and organized bake sales, canteens, bottle drives, card tournaments and other activities to raise money.  The staff held a live auction sale in chapel where they donated items for auction.  In order to give some incentive staff and students were promised a dress coded free day for every $1000.00 raised.  Our math teacher, Lloyd Schmidt, also said he would wear gel nails if the total was over $2500.00.  For $5000.00 the staff committed to wear student dress code for a day and the principal, Jim Epp, agreed to wear a jumper.  In the end $4, 210.56 was collected.

Students voted in advance as to where the money would be directed.   The results were 19% for the Rosthern Food Pantry, 24% for MCC Guate/El Salvador, 28% for the Saskatoon Children’s Hospital, and 29% for the Saskatoon SPCA.

RJC got Talent Staff Auction

To raise money for the 'RJC got Talent' student fundraiser , the staff did their part by auctioning off their 'talents' to the students.  Over $2000.00 was raised. The staff offered up a variety of handmade crafts as well as unique experiences.  The students enthusiastically bid on a variety of items which included a four wheeled adventure with Rick Lehmann and a sightseeing flight for two piloted by Heinrich Malan.

Lloyd's hand crafted bookshelves were a popular item.
Rick offers an 'A four wheeling adventure of a lifetime'
Did you know that Cheryl crafts stained glass?
Nic handcrafted a knit scarf for the occasion.

Paul bid on the pleasure of shaving Adam's head into any design of choice.

The students enthusiastically supported the auction.
