Sadie Hawkins 2012 - Looney Tunes

The Girls Dorm Council planned the annual Sadie Hawkins Event.  It is an all-school event that has the girls 'asking out' their 'dates' in all kinds of creative ways.  This year's theme was 'Saturday morning cartoons'.  The students dressed up like their favorite Looney Tunes characters and enjoyed a 'breakfast feast' of waffles with a variety of toppings and bacon and sausage.  The evening activity was postponed until next week due to weather and road conditions.  They will travel to Prince Albert on Halloween day for a fun filled evening of activity to finish off the event.

Kielke Supper at Bethany Manor

Around 300 people showed up at Bethany Manor for the Kielke & Sausage Fundraising Supper yesterday evening. They were treated to a fine meal of traditional noodles (Kielke, pronounced "cheel-cha") and a performance by RJC Chorale under the direction of Richard Janzen.  It is gratifying to see such support for a school like RJC!

Bethany Manor was a great place for this event. Here the line-up for kielke and sausage begins.

It was a nice mix of generations, including RJC Alumni and future RJC students!

Efficient food service.

Nice to see recent alumni show their support of the school. Plus they remember singing at this event when they were in Chorale!

Chorale waits for their turn to sing.

We've been busy! October 10

The days and weeks are starting to fly by here at RJC.  Students and staff are busy with activities in and out of the classroom. A few are highlighted below.

Students participated in the annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research.  The runners took off first followed by the walkers.

Phoenix and Morgan we presented the trophy in the Terry Fox Run.

Thanksgiving Chapel
Nicole leads the discussion with fellow students.  The discussion centered on helping students focus on the many things that we are thankful for in our lives.

We then shared in a Thanksgiving feast prepared for us with loving hands by our very own cooks!

All School Concert Choir are preparing for their next performance.
Above are the female percussionists, Phoenix,  Meghan, Nicole, Alyssa and Gabby.

Daniel, Brayden, Brandon, Morgan, Nathan and Liam add to the beat.

Concert Choir- 'Kwaheri'

Developing community is very important to us at RJC.  Two important aspects of community are trust and open communication.  Here the Faith and Life committee focus on developing both these characteristics.    Students are blindfolded and asked to trust another student to safely lead them through an obstacle course using only verbal prompting.

Eric leading Jake through the course.

Phoebe with Katie in control.

Up and over Terry!

Meghan takes instructions from Katie

Paradise receives encouragement from Nicole and Lyndsey.

Ryan has no problem!

The weeks to come look like they will be busy ones.  All of our teams continue to practice in preparations for regional competition, the Chorale is preparing for the Kiekle supper  and the dorm council is busy preparing for Sadie Hawkins.  Alumni Tournament and Deeper Life Days are fast approaching . . .and oh yes. . . we are attending classes as well and writing exams in between it all!
