Chapel Review weekending Jan 30th

Chapel Report Feb. 1, 2013

Staff chapels continued in January with the theme ‘Tell Me What You Want’.  On Mon. Jan. 14, art teacher Denise Epp shared her desire for students to learn to seek help from others to overcome their personal struggles, including depression and other life challenges.  On Mon. Jan. 21, Bev Epp declared that she had everything that she wanted, and shared her vision for what she wants for the students.  He dream for the students is to have just the right amount ‘wanting’ in their lives, enough to make them yearn for a better world, but not too much to make them greedy.  On Monday Jan. 28 the residences deans (Rowan Bezeau, Dave Attema, Ashley Wiebe, and Kirsten Hamm) shared in a panel discussion.  Their message centered on some insights from how their recent experiences compared to how they thought their ‘life would turn out’ while they were in high school.  They encouraged the students to not be too hard on themselves, and to focus more on ‘who they are’ rather than ‘what they will be’.  The deans also shared some highlights and lowlights about their jobs as deans.  The students appreciated their honesty and candor.

Grade 12 chapels on Wed. Jan. 16 and Wed. Jan. 30 included sharing from Sarah Olfert, Cody Epp, Say Eh Htoo, and Laura Buhler.  These chapels continue to encourage the student body as we learn more about each other.

The faith and life committee continued promoting it’s annual fundraiser for MCC Guatemala, and organized a movie night on Tues. Jan. 15 to raise funds and alleviate stress for students during semester end.  Other faith and life chapels included a riveting game of ‘Bible Pictionary’, and a skit exploring the theme of the parable of the lost sheep.
