Graduation 2014

Graduation weekend began Friday and Saturday night with  performances of The Sound of Music to two packed out audiences.  Sunday morning the Graduation Day began with the baccalaureate service at RMC.  Two students shared their faith stories and Linda Dickinson delivered a timely and heart felt message to the graduates.  Linda is the mom of grade 12 student Ryan .

The class of 2014

Festivities continued at the WDM in Saskatoon.  The students and faculty celebrated their last all school event together. The evening included a banquet, slideshow, coffee house and lots of energetic and lively dancing.  The students were on their way to a fireside hosted by the Klinger family in the early hours of Monday morning.    The evening was bittersweet,  for as excited as we are to see our students go out into the world with their many gifts and talents it is hard to say farewell to the personality and  character of our senior class.

Chapel Review Weekending June 13th

Chapel Report
Friday June 13, 2014

Chapels were busy in early June.  On Tues. June 3 principal Jim Epp encouraged students to finish the year making wise decisions while he outlined the time-table for graduation, musical, and final exams.  Students also focused their thoughts and energies discerning next year’s student leadership team during SRC and Dorm Council elections.

On Thursday June 5 RJC hosted a group of Chinese pastors.  It was moving and meaningful to sing hymns and pray together.

On Mon. June 9 three grads from 2013 joined us to share about their experiences in CMU’s Outtatown program last year.  It was encouraging to hear from recent grads who are making a difference in the world!

On Tues. June 10 we connected with another alumni, David Epp, in Guatemala via skype during chapel to check in on the progress at ANADESSA and the RJC sponsored building project happening there.   It was encouraging to see our students’ fundraising efforts making a meaningful impact in the lives of others!

On Wed. June 11 we celebrated our spring sports season and recognized the achievements of our badminton and track & field teams along with members of our Gun Club (weightlifting) & Run Club groups.   RJC had 77% of the student body participate in at least on sports team this year.  Well done team!

Celebrating the end of the 2014 sport season with donuts!

On Thurs. June 12 the Faith and Life Committee hosted their final chapel of the year, and decided to do it outside.  We sang hymns and Leaders Gabby M. & Benjamin S. gave some final thoughts about the theme before they gave a blessing for next year’s Faith and Life leaders, Rachel F. and Danielle B.

Staff awards were presented in chapel on Friday June 13 along with the Community Involvement Certificates, recognizing student involvement in RJC events.

Matt and Mackenzie achieved the Gold standard in community involvement.

Plaque recipients
Josef -Academic,  Lyndsey and Haley- Athletic , Mackenzie- Leadership , Laura and Matt - Co President,
Ryan and Kenna - Fine Arts

Thank you to everyone who participated in chapels this year.  It was rewarding to explore the theme “What is Love?” with the student body.  Thank you for your prayers.  Seeds have been planted; may they produce fruit.  Amen.

Junior Senior 2014

The 'Juniors' (the grade 11 and 10 students) spent the last few weeks secretly preparing a special evening for the 'Seniors' ( the grade 12 students) .  This event marks the beginning of the final stage of the 2013-2014 school year.  The juniors chose a 50's  theme for this event.  The dining hall was transformed into a 50's diner where homemade burgers, poutine, hotdogs and onion rings satisfied our appetites.   What better than  ice cream sundaes to finish off a great meal?

Servers at the 50's Diner.

The kitchen staff out did themselves once again!

Enjoying the meal!

The grade 12 appreciation ceremony followed the wonderful meal that was prepared by our own kitchen staff.  The grade 12 students were presented with a gold record inscribed with words of appreciation and thanks for their part in making the school year unique.

Students who have attended RJC for 3 years were given the opportunity to shared a special memory from their time here at RJC.

Hope sharing a funny soccer story.

Tandy shared a grade 10 retreat memory.

The audience was entertained by students reminiscing about their time at RJC.

The celebration continued with a sock hop in the gym.

The music was provided by Gabby, Brandon and Ahren.

A lot of energy and calories were burnt during the evening.

The evening continued with a scavenger hunt.  The students followed clues around the school and campus to reveal a secret code to help them find the prize.  The evening ended with soda floats in the dining hall.
