RJC Update Apr 23-30

EVENTS THIS WEEK INCLUDE:

- Wednesday, April 24, am - ALSO Guatemala group leaves (April 24-May 5).

- Wednesday, April 24, 10:30 pm - ALSO Gulf Coast group leaves (April 24-May 5).

- Thursday, April 25 - RJC is hosting a badminton playoff round. 

- Saturday, April 27 - Badminton playoffs in Clavet.

- Monday to Friday, April 29-May 3 - ALSO Service Week.

UPCOMING EVENTS:


- RJC OPEN CAMPUS DAY, May 11:   Everyone is invited to RJC's Open Campus Day on Saturday, May 11.  Families are welcome to  attend any or all activities scheduled, which include:  Peace & Justice Kids' Carnival, "Gen-Next" choir workshop, school and dorm tours, youth activities, evening meal in the dining hall (please rsvp to val@rjc.sk.ca if you plan to attend the meal so that the kitchen can adequately prepare for numbers expected).   The final event of the day is our annual SPRING CHOIR CONCERT at 7:00 pm.  Season finale performances by Concert Choir and Chorale will highlight the evening.  Admission is free; a collection in support of the ministry at RJC will be taken during the concert.   We look forward to having you join us.  


- RJC SPRING CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT Fundraiser, May 25:  Join us at the Valley Regional Park, Rosthern, for a Texas Scramble Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 25th.  Sign up individually or as a team ($125/person or $500/team).  This event includes on-course contests and challenges, and a banquet and silent auction at RJC following the tournament.  Information and registration forms are available on the RJC website at www.rjc.sk.ca or contact rjcgolf@rjc.sk.ca.  Registration deadline is May 13.  All proceeds will go to RJC.    If you are interested in being a corporate sponsor, or donating team prizes or silent auction items, please contact RJC.

RJC Update Apr 16-23

EVENTS THIS WEEK INCLUDE:

- Thursday, April 18 - The Fort Richmond Collegiate Choir from Winnipeg is making a quick visit to RJC after lunch as part of their choir tour.

- Thursday April 18, 3:00 pm - RJC is hosting a mini badminton tournament with Rosthern High School and Stobart School (Duck Lake).

- Thursday & Friday, April 19-20 -   SPEND-A-DAY - Students in grades 8-11 are invited to Spend-A-Day at the RJC campus. This will be an opportunity for prospective students to get a glimpse of what it is like to be a student here.  Following the noon registration students will be invited to sit in some classes, eat in the dining hall, join in fun activities and spend the night in the dorms. On Saturday they and their families are invited for brunch and an informal information session in the dining hall.  

- Sunday, April 21, 10:00 am - The RJC Chorale will be participating in the Sunday worship service at Rosthern Mennonite Church.

- Tuesday, April 23 - Badminton Conference playoffs begin in Perdue School.

RJC Update Apr 9-16

EVENTS THIS WEEK INCLUDE:

- Thursday-Monday, April 11-15 - Chorale Tour  to Alberta



UPCOMING EVENTS:

- SPEND-A-DAY, April 19-20:   Students in grades 8-11 are invited to Spend-A-Day at the RJC campus. This will be an opportunity for prospective students to get a glimpse of what it is like to be a student here.  After registration students will be invited to sit in some classes, eat in the dining hall, join in fun activities and spend the night in the dorms. Art as Resistance - Native Studies 20

The Native Studies 20 class feature some of their artistic creations inspired by traditional indigenous art forms and indigenous artists.  This assignment followed a mini-unit where students studied the use of art as a form of resistance in indigenous history, and a presentation by Michel Boutin at the Station Arts Centre in Rosthern.  Check out the video on www.youtube.com
