Chapel Review Weekending May 24th

Chapel Report
Friday May 24, 2013

Kyla and Paradise shared their ‘Life Journey’ Grade 12 chapel stories on May 22, and were both relieved once they were finished.  Thanks for having the courage to share girls!

Kyla

Paradise

On May 23 Redberry Bible Camp leaders entertained the student body with a creative rendition of the bible story of Jesus healing the blind man, and shared about the opportunities at Redberry.

On May 24 the RHS grade nine ELA class joined us for the ‘Theatre of the Beat’ production of the play “Forgiven/Forgotten”.  The play was commissioned by MCC’s Restorative Justice department as a way to promote discussion and awareness about justice issues in Canada.  The play focused on the effects of crime for the perpetrator as well as the victim and showed how crime affects us all.  In the Q and A portion at the end students and actors discussed how we could do a better job of addressing justice issues in Canada.

Chapel Report Weekending May 10th

Chapel Report
Friday May 10, 2013

On May 7 the Faith and Life Committee unveiled their wall mural in chapel.  This year’s chapel theme is “I Shall Not Want” based on Psalm 23.  The mural features a silhouette of Jesus holding a shepherds crook with two hands reaching toward him for guidance with the words “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want” from Ps. 23.  Thank you to Nicole Brockman for her leadership on this project!  This painting will inspire many for years to come.

On May 8 the ALSO Saskatoon & Prince Albert groups shared in chapel.  This was followed by a report from the Calgary group on May 10.  All groups are required to report about what they did and what they learned during their service week as part of their post-ALSO processing.  A slide-show video accompanies each presentation.  These videos can be viewed online at youtube.com/rosthernjrcollege.com.

On May 9 principal Jim Epp presented this year’s annual ‘Record Setting Spectacular’ student fundraiser to the students.  RJC Students directly participate in two fundraisers each year.  The first is around Christmas with proceeds going to organizations outside of the school, and the second is during the last week of May with money raised supporting programs at RJC.  Tuition only covers a fraction the total cost of school and this is a way for students to contribute to the many donations that are generously provided by others to fund our school and its programs.
