Graduation 2015

Sunshine, clear blue skies, and warm temperatures greeted us Graduation morning.  Grad day began with the Baccalaureate Service at RMC church.  Janelle, Vincent and Cheyenne  shared their Faith Stories with the congregation.  Mikayla's parents Bev and Allan Neudorf shared a message with the graduates.

The celebration continued in Saskatoon at the Western Development Museum where musical numbers, a power point presentation, a coffee house, and of course energetic dancing was enjoyed by all.  The students boarded the busses at 1:30 am to travel to the all night fireside hosted by Shenyce's parents. 

It truly was a celebration of community.

Countdown to Grad 2015

May and June were very busy month's at RJC.  One might say it was a whirlwind of activity.  We arrived back from the long weekend in May just in time to jump into action  at the Record Breaking Spectacular fundraising event, track and field meets, Water fun day and into serious  rehearsals for the year end musical production of 'Mary Poppins'.  In between all that we did manage to attend school everyday and prepare for final exams too!
 The final weeks were filled with year end activities and traditions. It was an exciting happy time but also a sad time as we prepared to say goodbye to our Grade 12 graduates.

Kathy Luitjens and Denelda Fast, representatives from the Alumni Association, welcomed the grade 12's class into their group.  The students were encouraged and challenged to become active participates as Alumni.  All the grade 12's were presented with a keychain.

An Awards chapel was held where school plaques were presented to students for exemplary performance in different areas of school life.  Joe and Dayna received the Co-president's plaque, Brandon and Cheyenne received the Community Leadership plaque, Manny and Kylee received the Athletic plaque and Gabby received the Performing Arts Plaque. 

To celebrate their  last day of classes, the Grade 12 ran the hallways banging on a variety of noise makers!

Somehow, between everything else, the students managed to study and prepare for final exams.

The yearbook committee worked hard all year to meet every deadline so that our yearbook would arrive in time for the reveal at the end of the year.  The 'Link' was presented to the student body.

Following years of tradition, the Grade 12 class participated in two rites of passage.  The class gathered to bury their Prophesy.  They will gather again in ten years at this location to dig up their treasure and read the words they wrote to themselves and to each other.  

Second, the class planted a class tree.  Here they will gather in ten years to marvel at how this tree has grown and changed  and how they have too!

Last, but definitely not least, the students followed many others who have graduated before them in a tradition that marks their time spent at RJC.  In the last few days students carved their names in the old brick school building on campus.
