Position: Recruitment and Constituency Relations (September 2010)
Introduction:
Rosthern Junior College is a Christian high school providing a quality grade 10-12 program within a Mennonite school community for students of any faith or culture. RJC follows the Saskatchewan Learning curriculum and in addition provides Christian Studies courses at each grade level as well as enhanced courses in areas such as music and fine arts.
Staff members are expected to profess a living faith in Jesus Christ, and to be active members of a church. Staff must be non-judgmental and receptive in approach and reflect genuine concern, respect, and commitment towards the individual, family, and community. Staff of RJC are encouraged and expected to work co-operatively with others; demonstrate flexibility in organizing work; have effective communication skills; and exhibit thoughtfulness in decision-making.
Accountability:
This position reports to the Principal, working also with the school administration and staff, as well the Board Enrolment Committees.
The Recruitment and Constituency Relations position is responsible to actively develop and carry out a recruitment plan, which will identify potential student markets and vigorously solicit students for Rosthern Junior College. The position is responsible to build and oversee two areas that will contribute to increased enrollment and funding for the school (with approximate percentage of time allocation indicated in brackets behind each area).
1. Admissions (70%) – The position is responsible to develop and fulfill an active recruitment plan for initiating student contacts, and following through on potential students from the time initial contact is made, to enrolment, to arriving on campus. Fostering and maintaining relationships with students, the constituency and potential students is fundamental for this position.
2. Fundraising and Donor Development (30%) – The position will actively oversee the development and coordination of fundraising events and activities. Enhancing and strengthening connections with various constituencies is essential to increasing donor giving and the funding base for the school. This will include working together with the Board, staff and students as well as the Alumni Association.

- Knowledge of Sask. Valley constituency, as well as Alberta and Saskatchewan Mennonite constituency a significant asset
- Effective relational skills with young people
- Organized, responsible, results-oriented
- Self-starting, outgoing, enthusiastic
- Strong interpersonal skills with people of all ages
- Ability to problem solve, to give and take direction
- Demonstrates strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to respect confidentiality
- Willingness to travel
- Non-profit experience a significant asset
- Strong interest and ability in fundraising and donor development; and a willingness to supplement this with ongoing formal and informal training in fundraising management
