RJC Students Compete in Annual Record-Setting Spectacular!!
Current RJC students stepped up to the challenge and participated in their annual fund-raising event for RJC. The students are aware of the many people past and present whose investment in RJC makes their experience at the school possible and also want to do their part.
For the past two years RJC students have participated in a Record Setting Spectacular. Each year the student teams attempt to “better” records set in previous years, as well as establish records in some new exciting events.
Students made up teams and then proceeded to set as many records as they could by performing a variety of individual and group challenges which may require speed, agility, patience, quick thinking, teamwork and luck.

The "Town Boys" team participates in a particularly puzzling challenge! |
The "British Beauties" attempt to drop as much loose change as they can into a jar submerged in a large pail of water. |
This slingshot challenge calls for students to launch water balloons as far as they can and........ |
.........catch them without breaking !!!!!! |
Another annual favourite is the "Egg Toss" challenge where teams throw a raw egg as far as they can and have a teammate attempt to catch it without breaking. This year the Town Boys team set an all time record of 192 feet!!! Wow! |
This unique "Face the Cookie" challenge requires student to manipulate an Oreo cookie from the middle of their forehead to teir mouth while only using the muscles on their face. John almost has this challenged licked! Try it sometime! |
Team Bluebeard participates in the "Buckethead" challenge. While wearing a hat with an ice-cream pail attached to it students were challenged to bounce as many ping pong balls off the floor and wall followed by a catch in the bucket. |
The arts were not ignored in the Record Setting Spectacular! Here "Team Toga" attempts to get the tone just right as they adjust water levels in a series of mason jars in order to play a recognizable tune. |
Teresa willingly agrees to be the 'fly on the wall' as her teammates try to use as little duct tape as possible to suspend her of the ground. |
This team of "Beauty Pageant Rejets" is attempting to build as many reverse pyramids as they can using fifteen empty pop cans and four paper plates. the keys to this challenge are teamwork and an engineering degree! |
Teacher Ryan always comes up with a creative challenge at his home. This year's Kids Klub challenge required teams to play a variety of typical children's games in atypical ways. |
Ever tried to get to the bottom of a pair of pantyhose using only one hand per leg? This challenge asked students to do just that as they tried to retrieve a golf ball from each foot using their hands only ... no touching. |
Students asked for team sponsors for this event. Money raised by the Record Setting Spectacular is used to help pay for student activities and experiences such as class retreats, athletics, fine arts and the school yearbook. It is an important way students partner with all the others who “invest” in education and students at RJC.
