RJC Update May 29-June 5

EVENTS THIS WEEK INCLUDE:

- Thursday, May 31, 1:00 pm - RJC STUDENT FUNDRAISING EVENT.  RJC students will participate in the Record Setting Spectacular as a fundraiser towards student activities (class retreats, athletics, fine arts and the school yearbook).  An afternoon is set aside for this fun event, where teams attempt to "better" records set in previous years.  Challenges include a variety of individual and group activities which may require speed, agility, patience, quick thinking, teamwork and LUCK.  Who knows…..we may even set an actual world record!  Money raised by the Record Setting Spectacular is tax deductible (donations of $10 or more).

- Thursday, May 31, 5:30-6:30 pm - CTV News is coming to Rosthern for the day to film the "Our Home Town" segment for the 6:00 pm CTV News.  As part of these celebrations, the town has invited the community (including RJC students) to a free BBQ and free swim in the park from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.  Catch the 6:00 pm news and you may see an RJC student or two.

- Friday & Saturday, June 1 & 2 - Provincial Track & Field meet at Griffiths Stadium, Saskatoon.  

- Sunday, June 3, 2:00 pm - PROSPECTIVE STUDENT FAMILY PICNIC.   If you have someone in your family who is considering attending RJC or know of someone else who would be interested in learning more about RJC, please contact Val White about attending this picnic.   The staff and students will be available to talk with and answer questions.  There will be good food and fun for the entire family.  



UPCOMING EVENTS:

- Youth Night performance of the RJC musical "OKLAHOMA", June 21, 7:00 pm -  This performance is open to students and chaperones, youth groups, youth pastors and sponsors, and perspective students.  Admission is $5 (rush seating) payable at the door.  Please contact Val White (val@rjc.sk.ca) or the RJC Office (office@rjc.sk.ca) if you want to bring a youth group or perspective students to this performance.

- Public performances of "OKLAHOMA", June 22 & 23, 7:30 pm.  Tickets are still available for both evenings.  All seats are numbered and must be reserved in advance ($15 each).   

- RJC GRADUATION, Sunday, June 24.  



FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

- RJC 2012 CHOIR CD:  Every year an RJC Choir CD is produced, featuring choir highlights from the past year.  You can pre-order your copy by calling or emailing the RJC Office ($15 – Visa or MasterCard accepted).  The CDs will be distributed during exam week, and available for purchase during the performances of "OKLAHOMA" and on grad weekend.

RJC Update May 23-29


EVENTS THIS WEEK INCLUDE:

- Wednesday, May 23 - Junior/Senior student celebration event.

- Friday, May 25 - District Track & Field meet at Griffiths Stadium, Saskatoon.

- Saturday, May 26 - RJC Spring Classic Golf Tournament at the Valley Regional Park, Rosthern. 

- Sunday-Tuesday, May 27-29 - Phys Ed 20 outtrip.



UPCOMING EVENTS:

- ANNUAL RJC STUDENT FUNDRAISING EVENTMay 31 -  For the past three years RJC students have participated in a Record Setting Spectacular as a fundraiser towards student activities (class retreats, athletics, fine arts and the school yearbook).  An afternoon is set aside for this fun event, where teams attempt to "better" records set in previous years.  Challenges include a variety of individual and group activities which may require speed, agility, patience, quick thinking, teamwork and LUCK.  Who knows…..we may even set an actual world record!  Money raised by the Record Setting Spectacular is tax deductible (donations of $10 or more).  Prizes will be awarded to students in four categories:  

- Teams that have the greatest number of sponsors
- Teams that raise the most money
- Teams that have the most creative team name and costumes
- The team that sets the most records.

This year there are also special incentives where students can earn the chance to try and soak some of their teachers in a dunk tank!!  This is our only student fundraiser for the year, and is an important opportunity for our students to give back as they join with the other "cloud of witnesses" who surround and support RJC in so many ways! 


- PROSPECTIVE STUDENT FAMILY PICNIC at RJC, Sunday, June 3.   If you have someone in your family who is considering attending RJC and would like to know more, you and your family are invited to our Prospective Student Family Picnic.  The staff and students will be available to talk with and answer questions.  There will be good food and fun for the entire family.  Contact the RJC Office (306 232-4222) or email val@rjc.sk.ca this week if you would like to attend this event.  If you know of someone else who would be interested in learning more about RJC, please contact Val White.

RJC Update May 15-23

EVENTS THIS WEEK INCLUDE:

- Wednesday, May 16 - Track & Field Conference Meet at Griffith Stadium, Saskatoon.

- Wednesday, May 16, 7:30 pm - RJC SPRING CONCERT in the RJC gymnasium.  We would be delighted to have you join us for an evening of wonderful music.   Season finale performances by Concert Choir and Chorale will highlight the evening.  Admission is free; a collection in support of the ministry at RJC will be taken during the concert.  Refreshments will follow in the rehearsal hall.   

- VICTORIA DAY LONG WEEKEND, May 18-21.  Thursday, May 17th is the last day of classes before the May long weekend.  Please note that final exams in the Christian Ethics courses will be written on the 17th.  School will be dismissed at 3:00 pm and dorms will be closed at 5:30 pm (no supper served).  The dorms will re-open on Monday, May 21 at 3:00 pm (supper available), and classes will resume Tuesday morning, May 22nd at 8:30 am.

- Wednesday, May 23 - Tickets for RJC's year-end musical OKLAHOMA go on sale to the public.  Please call the school to reserve your seats (Visa or MasterCard accepted).

- RJC SPRING CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT, May 26 - Join us at the Valley Regional Park, Rosthern on May 26 for a Texas Scramble golf tournament.  Sign up as a team or individually.  This event also includes a banquet and silent auction at RJC following the tournament.  Information and registration forms can be downloaded from the RJC website at www.rjc.sk.ca or contact rjcgolf@rjc.sk.ca.  Final golf & banquet reservations must be made by May 17.  All proceeds will go to RJC.

RJC Update May 8-15

EVENTS THIS WEEK INCLUDE:

- Thursday, May 10, 7:00 pm - RJC PEACE & JUSTICE COFFEE HOUSE.  The RJC Peace and Justice Studies Class will be hosting a coffee house at the Station Arts Centre in Rosthern.  It will be an evening of thoughtful, artistic commentary on our society and world. Different students will creatively share their thoughts on different peace and justice issues that we have been studying this term.  Admission is by donation with all proceeds going to the Rosthern Food Bank.  Drinks and snacks will be served.  Everyone is welcome to attend!

- Sunday, May 13, 11:00 am - The RJC Chorale will be at Nutana Park Mennonite Church in Saskatoon, participating in their Sunday morning worship service.
