Chapel Report

RJC hosted Kaytee
Edwards, Community Engagement Coordinator at Mennonite Central Committee
Saskatchewan, in chapel on Tues. Oct. 15.
Kaytee introduced the students to MCC and explained her history of
involvement with the organization where she began as a volunteer with the Kids’
Club program at Meadow Green in Saskatoon’s Southwest end. Kaytee encouraged the students to get
involved in their communities and with MCC—you never know where it might
lead. Kaytee will be helping
coordinate RJC’s annual Alternative Service and Learning Opportunities (ALSO)
week in Saskatoon this year.
On Thurs. Oct. 17 the
Faith and Life Committee organized a school wide game of “Kindness Twin Twin
Day Day” dodgeball. The game used
this month’s ‘I Cor. 13 love-word’ (kindness) in tandem with the Twin Twin Day
Day dress-up day planned by the Spirit Committee to create a unique dodgeball
game where twins (students and/or staff who dressed in similar clothing for the
day) linked arms and worked together while playing dodgeball. Hilarity ensued, and students returned
to class feeling even more in tune with their twin!

A pep rally was held during chapel on Fri. Oct. 18 to recognize the beginning of playoffs for Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer and the Longhorns football team. The volleyball teams were also competing this weekend, and are heading into the crucial last legs of their seasons before playoffs. Prayers were offered for all involved.
The pep rally ended with a 'cheer off' . . . Which side of the chapel could cheer 'We are Mennonite. . . " the loudest! |
