RJC Update Oct 8-15

EVENTS THIS WEEK INCLUDE:

- Tuesday, Oct 8, 4:00 pm - Boys' Soccer at RJC versus Se Se Wa Hum CANCELLED.  If you know of anyone who might have been planning to travel to this game (and who would not get this email), please let them know that the game is cancelled.

- Wednesday, Oct 9, 4:00 pm - Girls' Soccer versus Martensville.

- Wednesday, Oct 9, 4:00 pm - Boys' Soccer @ Oskayak School (Weaver Field - Ruth Street & Eastlake Avenue, Saskatoon).

- Wednesday, Oct 9, 4:00 pm - Football game @ Wakaw.  Please note that this game was moved from Thursday to Wednesday, and from Rosthern to Wakaw (to ensure that each team was able to host two home games after PACI's football team folded).

- Friday to Monday, Oct 11-14 - THANKSGIVING DESIGNATED WEEKEND -  Classes will be dismissed on Thursday, October 10 at 3:00 pm.  The dorms will close Thursday at 5:00 pm (no supper served), and re-open on Monday at 3:00 pm.  Please make arrangements for your son or daughter to travel home after 3:00 pm on Thursday.   

- Saturday, Oct 12 - Cross-Country Provincials at Medstead.  Three RJC students competed at Districts and all qualified for the Provincial meet:  Leah Pomedli (1st Sr Girls), Haley Enns (5th Sr Girls), and Kylee Kosokowsky (4th Jr Girls).  We wish them all the best at Provincials this Saturday!

- Tuesday, Oct 15, 8:30 am - Classes resume.

 

UPCOMING EVENTS:

- RJC KIELKE & SAUSAGE SUPPER FUNDRAISER - Monday, October 21st at Bethany Manor (110 La Ronge Road, Saskatoon). There will be two seatings for supper - the first seating will be at 4:30 pm for Bethany residents and family/guests, and the second seating will be at 6:00 pm for everyone!  Admission is by donation, and the RJC Chorale will be performing.  Everyone is welcome.  If possible please RSVP to val@rjc.sk.ca or call 306-232-4222.   If you are interested in helping with this event, please contact Valerie White or the RJC Office (val@rjc.sk.ca  or  office@rjc.sk.ca).  

- RJC TERM END - Friday, October 25.  Report cards will be mailed on or before November 1.

- PARENT / TEACHER / DEAN INTERVIEWS, Thursday, November 7, 1:00-6:00 pm in the RJC Rehearsal Hall.  Parents will have an opportunity to meet with RJC staff  Thursday afternoon from 1:00-6:00 pm (come-and-go basis).  Classes end at noon on Thursday, and the school and dorms will close for the November Remembrance Long Weekend (November 8-11).  Classes resume Tuesday, November 12 at 8:30 am.

- RJC CORPORATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - Saturday, November 16th in the school chapel (2nd floor), between 5:00 and 6:00 pm.  

- RJC FUNDRAISING AND APPRECIATION BANQUET - Saturday, November 16th at 6:00 pm in the school gymnasium (details to follow).

 

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

- SCHOOL PICTURE PROOFS:   Students received their Lifetouch Proof packages this week.  The completed forms and payment should be returned to the RJC Office by Wednesday,  October 17, or parents can choose the on-line order option.  Student retakes will not be offered until Semester II.

- EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:   RJC is accepting applications for a Casual Cook.  This position may lead to permanent part-time in the future.  Contact the RJC Kitchen at 306 232-4414 for more information.

- 2012/13 CHOIR CD:   Last year's RJC Choir CD is still available for online purchase (http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/RosthernJuniorCollegeChoirs).  As well there are a limited number of CD's in the office that can be purchased for $15.
