Chapel Review for Weekending March 7th

Chapel Report
Friday March 7, 2014

The Faith and Life Committee Coordinated an all-school Shrove Tuesday breakfast on Tuesday March 4th.  Thank you to the kitchen staff for the delicious pancakes, sausage, and all the toppings!  The history of Shrove Tuesday and the observance of Lent were explained and some students shared what they were giving up for Lent.

Doreen and her kitchen staff go the extra mile to make everyday special at RJC.

The Have a Heart fundraising campaign continued on Wed. March 5th with an auction sale during chapel time.  Staff donated items to sell, and SRC and Faith and Life member auctioned their services.  Over $1200 was raised for our projects!

On Thursday March 6th students continued with ALSO preparation in chapel.  Students viewed part of a documentary interview with pastor Tony Campolo about materialism and consumerism and its effects on our culture and church.  The message was to think through the differences between our ‘wants’ and our ‘needs’, and to discern whether we are laying up our treasure on earth or in heaven.

Grade 12 students Lauren Hooge and Haley Enns shared in chapel on Friday March 7, 2014.  These chapels continue to be a highlight for the student body.
