Chapel Review Weekending March 14th

Chapel Report
Friday March 14, 2014

Chapel this week began on Mon. March 10 with some personal sharing from resident dean Joel Siemens.  Joel spoke on the chapel theme ‘What is Love?’ and focused on the importance of learning to love one’s self.  Joel related some stories and personal struggles and some things he has found helpful on his journey to know and accept himself.  We also learned that Joel is an excellent singer!

Local missionary Jason Johnson spoke in chapel on Wed. Mar. 12.  Jason is part of a Texan Baptist church who is working in the area, and he shared on the ALSO theme ‘To Participate is to be Fully Human’.  Jason’s enthusiasm and passion for sharing the scripture kept the students’ attention!

Ryan Wood explored the ALSO theme on Thursday March 13.  He outlined some root causes of poverty and encouraged students not to make quick judgments about why people are in need, but rather commit to help people.

On Friday March 14 custodian Mel Siemens shared about his recent MDS trip to High River.  This was helpful information as the student body is preparing for their ALSO service trips on April 7-11.
